ABOUT A BAND

Okay, it's not Breadmakers, but this is another film (About a Band) which involves Robin Mitchell and Jim Hickey. So here goes . . .

About A Band will be screened at Paisley Arts Centre on Tuesday 13th September 2011 at 2pm.

The Columcille Ceilidh Band has a unique combination of musicians including a number of adults with learning difficulties. The joyous sounds of the ceilidh music are interwoven with personal tales and a true sense of just how important the band has been to the lives of its members. Watch a short clip here.

The screening is part of Glasgow Film Theatre's Great Scots on Tour project. About A band will be screened with the short film The Pedestrian.

Breadmakers - Special Olympics update

This is an update to our earlier posting about the 13th Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens.

The screenings of Breadmakers have been moved to the Special Olympics main stadium in Athens. The film will be screened every day at the Festival Tent, at 11.00 and 15.00, from 26th June to 3rd July 2011 except for the screenings on Wednesday 26th June 2011 which will be at 13.00 and on Sunday 3rd July which will be at 17.00.

The invitation from the Special Olympics came about after Breadmakers was screened at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival in March 2011.

The Special Olympics draws 7,000 athletes from 180 countries around the world, 3,000 coaches and officials, 25,000 volunteers, 40,000 family members and thousands of spectators.

Breadmakers: Special Olympics

Breadmakers has been selected to be shown as part of a series of cultural events at the 13th Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens between the 25th June and 4th July 2011.

This invitation came about after Breadmakers was screened at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival in March 2011.

The Special Olympics draws 7000 athletes from more than 180 countries around the world, 3000 coaches and officials, 25 000 volunteers, 40 000 family members and thousands of spectators.

Breadmakers: The Sprout Film Festival

Breadmakers is to be screened at the 9th Sprout Film Festival New York on Saturday 30th April and Sunday May 1st 2011.

The Sprout Film Festival takes place between Friday 29th April and Sunday 1st May 2011 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, and this year they will be screening 50 unique films from 16 different countries.

The Sprout Film Festival was founded in 2003 and is programmed and supported by Sprout, a NYC-based non-profit organisation, dedicated to bringing innovative programming to people with developmental disabilities.

Breadmakers: Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival

Breadmakers is to be screened at the 13th Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival which takes place between the 11th – 20th March 2011.

The Thessaloniki Film Festival is a leading European Documentary Festival since its inception in 1999. Through its tributes and retrospectives, the festival focuses on filmmakers with unique cinematic voices, internationally renowned for their contribution to the documentary genre.
