Breadmakers - Special Olympics update

This is an update to our earlier posting about the 13th Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens.

The screenings of Breadmakers have been moved to the Special Olympics main stadium in Athens. The film will be screened every day at the Festival Tent, at 11.00 and 15.00, from 26th June to 3rd July 2011 except for the screenings on Wednesday 26th June 2011 which will be at 13.00 and on Sunday 3rd July which will be at 17.00.

The invitation from the Special Olympics came about after Breadmakers was screened at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival in March 2011.

The Special Olympics draws 7,000 athletes from 180 countries around the world, 3,000 coaches and officials, 25,000 volunteers, 40,000 family members and thousands of spectators.

Breadmakers: Special Olympics

Breadmakers has been selected to be shown as part of a series of cultural events at the 13th Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens between the 25th June and 4th July 2011.

This invitation came about after Breadmakers was screened at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival in March 2011.

The Special Olympics draws 7000 athletes from more than 180 countries around the world, 3000 coaches and officials, 25 000 volunteers, 40 000 family members and thousands of spectators.

Breadmakers: The Sprout Film Festival

Breadmakers is to be screened at the 9^th Sprout Film Festival New York on Saturday 30^th April and Sunday May 1^st 2011.

The Sprout Film Festival takes place between Friday 29^th April and Sunday 1^st May 2011 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, and this year they will be screening 50 unique films from 16 different countries.

The Sprout Film Festival was founded in 2003 and is programmed and supported by Sprout, a NYC-based non-profit organisation, dedicated to bringing innovative programming to people with developmental disabilities.

Breadmakers: Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival

Breadmakers is to be screened at the 13^th Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival which takes place between the 11^th – 20^th March 2011.

The Thessaloniki Film Festival is a leading European Documentary Festival since its inception in 1999. Through its tributes and retrospectives, the festival focuses on filmmakers with unique cinematic voices, internationally renowned for their contribution to the documentary genre.

MALDON FILM CLUB

Breadmakers is to be screened at the Maldon Film Club on Wednesday 2nd 
February 2011.

The Maldon Film Club works on a membership basis and is run by a 
committee that selects and screens a programme from the best of recent 
English and foreign language films at the Maldon Town Hall.

All films commence at 8.00pm unless otherwise stated.

InArte Meetings 2010

Breadmakers is to be screened at the InArte Meetings 2010, Lisbon, Portugal on Tuesday 14th December 2010 at 6.30pm as part of the Inarte Video Sessions.

The main objective of InArte is to promote and expose art as a useful instrument that can be educational, occupational, therapeutic, and of social integration. In addition it allows consciousness among professionals who currently or in the future will work with disabled people that have fewer opportunities, giving them a tool to fight against social exclusion.

The project will carry on in the future, with an annual event that provides continuity and a possible course in which the most professional and competent authorities will join together with the same purpose.

Breadmakers at the GFT

Breadmakers will be screened at the Glasgow Film theatre on Saturday 6th November with other Scottish shorts. 

The screening is part of the IETM (International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts) which is holding its international convention and artistic showcase in Glasgow on 4-7 November 2010. 

This one-off event will see up to 600 performance arts industry practitioners from 45 countries visit Glasgow for a 4-day programme of talks, performances, networking and events.
